Basketball Updates

Final is 78-55 for the Bronchos. Great first half with just four turnovers and a 21-point lead, then a sloppy second half but UCO has no trouble rolling to its third straight win. Ashley Beckley finishes with a game-high 22 points.

Bronchos in cruise control now, up 75-50 with less than four minutes left.

Coach Guy Hardaker's not happy and takes his first timeout of the game as the Bronchos turn it over three times in five possessions against USAO pressure. A 12-2 run has the Lady Drovers within 67-44, still a 23-point cushion with 6:58 left.

It's now a 30-point bulge (60-30) with 12:10 left after consecutive layups by Traci Murphree.

UCO still comfortably in front, 51-29 with 14:47 left to play following a Cristina Yarbrough 3-pointer.

No scoring in final two minutes, so Bronchos go to the locker room with a big 42-21 lead. UCO has 14 layups, Ashley Beckley has 14 points and the Bronchos have 10 steals in forcing 21 turnovers.

UCO fast break is working well tonight. Three straight layups, one after a made bucket and two following turnovers up the lead to 42-21 with under two minutes left in the half.

Bronchos have doubled up USAO, leading 36-18 with 4:22 left in opening half after back-to-back treys by Jordan Stark and Traci Murphree.

Ashley Beckley is dominating inside and already has 14 points with the Bronchos up 27-13 with 7:03 left in the opening half. UCO defense continues to stifle the Lady Drovers, who have 13 turnovers.

Broncho defense is overwhelming the Lady Drovers. UCO has six steals and has forced 11 turnovers in leading 21-9 with 10:56 left in the half.

At the 14:25 mark it's a 14-7 UCO lead as the Bronchos have made six layups.

Bronchos trailed 4-2 early, but Rose Anderson had a steal and length-of-court drive to tie it and Cristina Yarbrough followed with another steal and feed to Ashley Beckley for a layup and a 6-4 lead. A USAO miss led to a Yarbrough layup and it's 8-4, UCO, with 16:39 left in the first half.

No radio or live stats for Central Oklahoma's game with USAO tonight in Chickasha, so we'll bring blog updates every 10 minutes or so as the Bronchos take on the Lady Drovers. UCO fell from 12th to 18th in today's new Division II coaches' poll and will be looking to move to 3-1 on the young season.
